Baby Shower for Liv

Last Wednesday I hosted a baby shower for Erik's sister, Liv. I had so much fun making the invitations and decorating the table. Our ping pong table (AKA our kitchen table) has come in very handy. I can seat 20 people!

She got a little nervous when someone gave her a nasal aspirator. A few women began to tell her the dangers of what can happen if you use it wrong. Don't worry Liv; you'll be a great mother.

This will be the first child born on the Olafsson side and we are all anxiously awaiting his arrival. Only a few more weeks to go Liv; hang in there.

Kayaking in La Jolla

A few weeks ago I promised pictures from our kayaking excursion in La Jolla. Here they are:

We went kayaking next to sea lion caves and through a kelp forest. Unfortunately we couldn't go in the caves because we didn't have helmets, but it was fun anyway. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous!

Lost and Found

A few hours ago, Erik and I were driving through the 5600 South and Van Winkle intersection when we saw a lost dog roaming around the street. We pulled over and looked to see if he had any tags. Unfortunately, the only thing he had on was a shock collar. Without hesitation, Erik and I put him in our car and headed straight to the vet to see if he had a microchip. No such luck.

We took the dog home, tied him up outside and gave him some water. The veterinary hospital gave us a few phone numbers to call to see if anyone had reported a lost dog. I called some in the area but they hadn't heard anything. We decided to take him to the Salt Lake County Animal Services because we were told they do not kill the dogs (unlike Midvale and Murray Animal Control where if the animal is there for four days and nothing happens, they put them down). Before leaving, we took a picture of the little guy and made some flyers to put up after we dropped off the dog.

Shortly after arriving at Animal Services, I received a call. It was the owner! I was so happy we didn't have to leave "Figit" in the arms of the unknown. The owner had called the same places I did and they were able to give her my number.

We found a dog and were able to successfully reunite him with his owner all within three hours. I am so glad we were able to get "Figit" home with his loved ones.

Quick Trip to San Jose

Over Labor Day weekend, Erik and I flew out to San Jose to visit our friends, Cooper and Mercedes. They recently moved from Utah to California when Cooper began working for Apple. During the few short days we got to spend with them, we went to the beach, ate at fabulous restaurants and watched University of Utah beat Michigan. You thought Erik would miss the game? Yeah right! We called around to five different sports bars before we found one with large enough TV's. We had so much fun and can't wait to see them again. Here are a few highlights from our trip:

New Nephew: Blake Taylor

My sister, Erika, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy at 2:26am this morning. He was 7 pounds 1 ounce and 20 inches long.
I am currently in Las Vegas helping take care of her two girls while she and Trent rest at the hospital with the baby. I am so excited to have a new nephew and another one is coming next month!
For our families that are anxiously waiting, here are a few pictures of their new addition.

Pics from San Diego

Below are pictures from the Olafsson family trip to San Diego. We stayed in La Jolla and had a wonderful time. We went kayaking (these pictures still to come), hiking, had fun at the beach, and went to the Wild Animal Park. Thanks again Mom and Dad; we had a blast.

Who are Erik and Tanya?

I don't know what could describe Erik and I better than the picture below. This was taken a couple of weeks ago on our flight to San Diego. I think it was the third shot taken and Erik was still cracking everyone up. Erik is always playing jokes and making everyone laugh. Me on the other hand, always off to the side, wishes Erik would be serious for a minute, yet still laughing inside. That is, if it doesn't interfer with getting a good picture.

Finally, after five photos taken, I get a good one.
Thank heaven!

No More 9 to 5

I quit my job! It was a scary, yet wonderful day for me last friday. I had been unhappy there for a while, and now I finally get to concentrate on school.

Since I won't be working any more, I added two more classes to my current schedule at the University of Utah. This semester will mark the end of my college years. Hallelujah! It's been a long time coming and I am very excited to be done.

Come mid-December, my time at the U will come to an end. I will always be a Ute at heart.

NASCAR Photo Op

For some strange reason, the RiverPark complex where I work had a NASCAR "photo op" where we could sit in the car and take pictures. It sounded kind of strange, but I didn't think I would ever have the opportunity to do that again, so I went to see what it was all about.

I climbed in the car, stilettos and all, and sat there while my friend took a couple of pictures. I couldn't believe how confined everything was. I started to feel a little claustrophobic and wanted to get out of there ASAP. I quickly
realized that you can't get out while the steering wheel is still in tact. Yes, it's that tight in there! I took the wheel off and got out in a hurry.
