Norwegian Pride

On May 17th, Erik and I spent the morning at the International Peace Gardens celebrating Syttende Mai (Norwegian Independence Day). Victor, my deceased grandfather was honored with his name engraved on a plaque commemorating his contribution to the Norwegian Consul for Utah. Willard, Erik's great uncle (wearing blue in picture below), was also honored.
Willard and Victor were friends back in the ol' days and played soccer on the same team for many years. My grandpa died when I was a young child, so I love listening to Willard tell me stories of their time together. What a small world it is.
I haven't done much to expand the knowledge of my heritage over the years so when I was told about this festival, I was very excited to attend. I know my grandfather was smiling down at me while I, as well as the large crowd of supporters, honored his contributions.

* To the left of Khloe is my parent's dog, Baylee. She wanted to honor her "grandpa" as well. :)

That is so cool! And even better that you brought Baylee with you. Dad will be so happy and proud.

That is really neat, and really cool that your grandpas hung out way before your time!

I'm glad you are proud to be Norwegian and want to learn more. Grandpa was a grand person and deserves to be honored. His son is too.
