What's So Cool About Twitter?

Unless you've been living in a cave recently, I'm sure you've heard about the latest social networking fad, Twitter. Seriously though, I don't understand why this is so cool. Everyone from President Obama to Ashton Kutcher to Oprah are twittering.

I'm assuming the only people that tweet on a daily basis are those with Blackberry's or some sort of hand held device so that they can upload their tweet's constantly throughout the day and I am not one of them. First off, I'm not important enough to warrant having a Blackberry. I'm not cool enough either seeing as the only people that ever call me are my family and lastly, why would anyone be interested in reading what I am doing at that very second? No one is going to find "playing with my dog and her squeeky toys" even remotely interesting. I'm sure my blog posts are boring enough for my family and friends to read and I only update that about once a week.

A friend of mine convinced me to create a Twitter account a few months ago but I have never used it. Every morning I get emails saying someone is following me. But why would someone want to "follow me" when I never say anything? Strange. Just like I ignored everything to do with Twilight (I have never seen the movie and never plan to) I have no intention on jumping on this bandwagon.

I just don't get it. What is the big deal about Twitter?

It seems like the same idea as Facebook to me. I don't get it either. By the way, I love reading your blogs:)

well, i am glad to hear your experience b/c now i don't feel like i am missing out on twitter, but i have to ask you... have you tried facebook? i haven't, but based on what i hear from a lot of my friends, they like it and use it a lot, it sounds cool, so you should try it out and then let me know if i need to bother with it! just kidding, unless you already have, let me know!! but, i also wanted to tell you that i didn't get into reading the twilight series, but was anxious to see the movie. jonz teased me that the movie is for obessed readers, but i say, it's for the non-readers (i've never been into fantasy), but i saw it, and was glad that i didn't take the effort to read the book. however it was satisfying to see what all the hype was and to relieve my curiosity. (not bad, but not a big fan either). i hope this made sense

here here! I don't see the need to be a twit. haha. (That's what I call people who twitter...) but nothing against them-- I just don't find "putting my feet up" or "grocery shopping" interesting enough to follow on a daily basis. :0)

To me it is just another thing people think they have to do to be popular. I think our time is better spent doing good things for others than writing good things about ourselves.

About the Twilight thing. Definitly don't see the movie if you haven't read the book. I loved the series and I am not one to get on the band wagon. I was not impressed with the movie the first time, but it got a tiny bit better after that. The books are really good though. Definitly worth my 'precious' time:)

I don't really understand twitter either but I do recommend reading the Twilight books - they really are quite good. Great light reads if you are bored and, really who cares about the bandwagon if you enjoy it. If you really don't want to read Twilight, I recommend her other book, The Host, it's sooo much better than the vampire books!
