Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve dinner was at the Osmond family home this year. As usual, the food was delicious. My parents joined us as well, which is always nice.

It's wonderful how well the separate families get along and the Olafssons/Osmonds are so generous to include them in our gatherings.

Above is a cute video of Ethan babbling while eating dinner. He had just figured out how to make some new sounds.

Once we finished dinner, we had a short Christmas program filled with beautiful music and a nativity themed scavenger hunt for the kids. It's difficult getting the kids to calm down and listen to the stories/scriptures, but I think through all of the commotion, they still managed to come away with a small understanding of what Christmas is really all about.

After dinner, we went home and made cookies for Santa, wrote him a letter, and the kids opened up one gift; pajamas. As you can see from the middle picture on the bottom row, Santa enjoyed his late night snack. Claire got a kick out of this.

Then it was off to bed. For the kids anyway. Santa's helpers had a lot to do that night and stayed up very late preparing for morning.

The Nativity story activity was great. It's challenging with little kids to have Jesus a part of Christmas, but very important.
