Christmas Morning

I can't believe it has been eight months since I lasted posted a journal entry about our life. That is so terrible of me and I hope I never let it happen again. I take so many pictures on Christmas and get very overwhelmed thinking about what an ordeal it is to get them posted online. But without fail, it's always easier once I get started. So, here we go.

I was so excited for Christmas morning this year. Claire was at the perfect age to enjoy it all. This was the first time she began to anticipate Santa coming to our house and the frenzy that went along with Christmas. Ethan, on the other hand, had no idea what was going on (just as expected).

Christmas morning started out with the annual "photo on the stairs" snapshot. Of course, Ethan wouldn't sit still (he is such a mover). Claire was eager to see what was in the living room, but I could tell was still a little nervous.

Once Claire made it around the corner, she was in awe. She didn't know where to begin, so we told her you always start with your stocking. Five seconds later, her amusement with her stocking stuffers had dwindled and she made her way over to the big gifts. At three and a half years old, Claire was infatuated with many things, which made gift shopping a lot easier for me. She loves to "do hair" so we got her a play hair tool set. She also was obsessed with Dora the Explorer (her favorite television show), hence the new Dora toddler bed and thanks to her older cousin, Soren, she loved train sets. The gift she was looking forward to the most was a suitcase. Before Christmas, she told me many times that she wanted a suitcase. I told her to be prepared in case Santa did't bring her one, but he did anyway. :) She was definitely a happy girl!

Ethan seemed to like his gifts as well. Finding new baby toys that we didn't have and that I thought Ethan would enjoy was a challenge, but I think we succeeded. The first item was a car of course. Next, was a green stuffed dog (named Scout) that played music, said 'Ethan', and much more. Another favorite of his was a baby television remote. He was enamored by the lights and sounds. One of the others, was a baby walker. He loved to push Claire's baby stroller around so I thought he needed something a little more "boyish". And like all babies, Ethan loved to play with all of the wrapping paper.

Erik and I also gave a few gifts to each other. I received a comfy new set of pillows for our bed (made out of bamboo) and one of the items I gave Erik was a new book, "Killing Kennedy". It's always nice to get things for one another even though most of the excitement is for the kids.

With that, another successful Christmas morning concluded. We are so blessed and fortunate to be able to experience Christmas this way and I am so grateful to Erik (and Heavenly Father) for providing me with our wonderful family.

*Note - Ethan had a cold, which is why he looks sick
in our family photo. And of course, Khloe got presents too.
